Shopping Theraphy Debts?

Confessions of a Shopaholic

How it all begin?

Confession of a Shopaholic

Anyone who loves shopping would have watch this movie. If you have not, go watch it. It’s a comedy, romance. I watch it a few times. I find it amusing but…. not so amusing when reflecting the same on myself.

How she started it all?

She hated herself and her parents for wearing and using things her parents got her from the thrift store. She dislike being laugh at by her school mates. She dream of wearing the beautiful things from the beautiful departmental stores.

In the end, she learnt cost and worth, acceptance, letting go and last but not least love.

Have you wondered, where your money went? Thinking I could not have spent that much money, right? I wondered how on earth did I spend them.

I wondered how I got into credit debts?
It’s awesome how the ‘plastic’ is so convenient. How it ease the shopping experience and awesomely painful when the bills arrives in your mail. *Cringed*
If you have that or ever been there, I empathize how you feel. It’s not awesome, I know.

This movie had a quote, I want to deny, but I cannot because it is true.

When I shop, the world gets better, and the world is better, but then it’s not, and I need to do it again...

Sometimes, it’s not just shopping. Some it could be a car need repair at the most untimely manner. My heels broke, I need a replacement. Somehow or rather money get spent away.

When I don’t love or appreciate myself enough? I automatically wired the subconscious mind of not worthy of receiving or keeping things especially money. I then attract an event, something or someone to spent it away.

Well… I got to start somewhere to begin with….

Now I’ve made good progress by doing the below..

I ask myself:

Do I want it? * Normally is a Yes, Of COURSEEEE *
Do I need it? * We always find a new need for it now or in future, right?*
Do I really need this now? *Some YES some No *

OK. Then wait a few days.
If I can’t get my mind of the item after a week. I’ll get it.
99% of the time, I forgot about it.
If I went back and it’s sold out, I believe if I need it, chances are I can find it somewhere else. I will survive without it. LOL!

If I answer all YES for the 3 questions, but may feel bad after buying them, I won’t buy either. No point buying something I love and feel bad *GUILTY*.
This is not an act of love and gratitude towards what I love. It’s self sabotaging.

Then some ask, do I buy anything at all? Yes I do. I still buy clothes, soft toy and all.
It is all things that sparks joy to me.

Look up the Book call ” The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”, from Marie Kondo. I only keep things that sparks joy in my life. Then I end up with things that brings Joy, rather than having tonnes of stuff but don’t make me happy but made addition to clutters.

Now I am making progress of not adding more to the clutter, next will be decluttering and healing the part where it all started.

Good Luck everyone. Don’t buy unless you absolutely need it.
